Piano Tuning

Regular piano tuning helps maintain pitch stability, ensuring a pure and pleasing tone during every performance. Accurate tuning not only enhances the effectiveness of learning and playing, but also cultivates a precise sense of pitch—especially beneficial for children and students studying piano. In addition, consistent tuning reduces wear on strings and internal components caused by uneven tension, thereby extending the piano’s lifespan and keeping the instrument in optimal condition.

Beyond serving individual households, we also provide professional piano tuning services for hotels, restaurants, private clubs, schools, and performance venues across Hong Kong. This ensures that pianos in different environments are maintained at their best sound quality. Private clients can likewise enjoy the same level of professional service trusted by institutional clients.

Q&A

1. How often should a piano be tuned?

It is recommended to have your piano professionally tuned every 6 to 12 months. For new pianos, or instruments frequently used for performances and examinations, tuning every 3 to 6 months is advisable. Regular tuning ensures pitch stability and effectively extends the lifespan of the piano.

2. What happens if a piano has not been tuned for over a year?

If a piano has not been tuned for more than one year, the pitch may become severely unstable, potentially affecting strings and structural components. It may require a longer period or multiple tuning sessions to restore proper pitch.

3. How long does a piano tuning service usually take?

A professional piano tuning service generally takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the piano model and its actual condition. Pianos that have not been tuned for an extended period may require additional time.

4. Is piano tuning the same as piano repair?

No. Tuning involves adjusting string tension to maintain correct pitch, whereas repair may involve part replacement, structural adjustments, or resolving mechanical issues. We provide professional piano tuning and can recommend repair solutions if needed.

5. Is piano tuning service only available for household use?

No. In addition to individual and household clients, we also provide piano tuning services for hotels, restaurants, private clubs, schools, music academies, and performance venues. This ensures that pianos across different environments maintain professional standards.

6. How can I book a piano tuning service?

Please contact us via WhatsApp or call 3725 7060 to make an appointment or request a quotation. When booking, kindly provide your tuning location, preferred date, and alternative time slot.

Piano Care Tips

1. Maintain a Stable Environment

The piano should be kept at least 10–15 cm away from the wall to prevent moisture buildup. Do not place the piano under direct sunlight or near air-conditioning or heating outlets, so as to reduce the impact of temperature and humidity changes on pitch stability.

2. Control Humidity

Keep indoor humidity between 40%–60%. In Hong Kong’s humid climate, it is recommended to use a dehumidifier or install a dedicated piano dehumidifier tube to maintain stable humidity levels.

3. Regular Cleaning

The keyboard should be wiped with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth and dried immediately. Avoid using chemical cleaners or alcohol to prevent damage to the keys or piano surface.

4. Proper Covering

When not in use, the piano should be covered with a cloth to prevent dust from entering the soundboard and action mechanism, while keeping the instrument clean.

5. Regular Professional Tuning

It is recommended to schedule piano tuning every 6 to 12 months. For new pianos or those frequently used for performances, tuning every 3 to 6 months is advised to ensure pure sound quality and structural stability.
